How we handle your information
- Protected
- Your answers are encrypted before they are stored, and only the application that saved them can open them.
- Documents
- Typing is always enough. If you prefer, photograph your passport and we read it on our own server, keep nothing, and you confirm every value we find.
- Artificial intelligence
- No AI decides what you need. Procedures, required documents and checks are fixed rules we verify against official sources, and each shows when it was last checked.
- How long we keep it
- An application is kept only while you are using it. Unused ones are deleted automatically after 30 days.
- Delete it yourself
- You can erase your application and everything in it at any time, with one button.
- Not the government
- BCN Student isn’t affiliated with the Spanish government. We prepare paperwork; we don’t submit it, issue anything or guarantee it will be accepted.

Is BCN Student really free?
Your first application is free, with every feature included: the questions, the filled-in EX-17, the checklist and the folder. Each further application is a single payment, shown before you pay. There is no subscription. The state fee for the TIE is separate and goes to the authorities.
Who is it for?
People living in Barcelona: the TIE for a non-EU student (first card or renewal), the TIE for another residence authorisation, the registration certificate for EU, EEA and Swiss students, and a NIE number. The first questions tell you which one applies. If your case is something else, they say so and nothing is produced that might be wrong.
Do you submit my application or book my appointment?
No. BCN Student prepares your form, checklist and folder. You sign and file in person at the police station for your place of residence, and you book any appointment through the official channel.
Are you lawyers or a gestoría?
No. BCN Student is software. It isn’t a law firm or a gestoría, it isn’t affiliated with the Spanish government or any university, and it doesn’t give legal advice. You are the applicant on every form.
What happens to my data?
Your answers are encrypted before they are stored. An application nobody has touched for 30 days is deleted automatically, and you can delete an application or your whole account yourself at any time. If you photograph your passport to save typing, the photo is read on our own server and not kept.
Can you guarantee my TIE will be approved?
No, and any service that guarantees it is misleading you. The decision belongs to the Spanish authorities. What BCN Student does is help make sure your form is filled in correctly and that you know what to bring.
How do I know the requirements are current?
Each requirement shows the official source it comes from and the date it was last checked. Rules change, so check the official page again before you file.
What do I still have to do myself?
Pay the state fee at a bank, gather your documents, sign the form, and attend in person with the originals. The folder tells you exactly what to enter, bring and do.
